Black Eyed Peas copy Snow Patrol?

I'm sure there are a lot of theories on this, but if you've heard
'The Black Eyed Peas' latest hit "I Gotta Feeling" you'll realise what it sounds like.
Through 80% of the song you hear a sample that is familiar, i'm sure it's been ripped off. Speculation is that they stole the Open Your Eyes intro and used it for their song.
Only thing, is the Black Eyed Peas song really sucks.

Could be, there's a wee bit of similarity, I felt. But I'm definitely not trying to defend the BEP.

This is a very popular song here in the states. I can hear what you mean. There is that guitar sound which is so signature Snow Patrol in the intro and repeated later in the song. I don't think it's a rip-off of a SP song though. The lyrics are mindless and repetitive. It's good for what it's meant to be, a dance tune. I think they're one of the best hip hop dance bands out there. But no competition to SP as far as musicianship and lyrics. Snow Patrol songs are relevant, meaningful and memorable.

Maybe Snow Patrol will do a cover of "I Got a Feeling". Stranger things have happened. They did a cover of Beyonce's "Crazy Like That".

Sorry, I can not hear a similarity. I prefer the other BEP's songs to be honest. Well, I hardly know any though except "My hump" :P

So much for uniqueness. It seems as time goes on that different bands will start to have similar sounds. Yay......
Well at least they put a BEP spin to it.

i would love to hear SP cover jose gonzalez heartbeats just one of those songs i love but would love to hear SP take on it as i heard the radio one elbow 'one day like this' on the radio at the time and loved it

Well it's the same chord progression. It happens in songs occasionally as you'd expect. Wonderwall, that song by Greenday (Boulevard of Broken Dreams) and another one by Travis are the same chord progression.

I wouldn't call this a rip off though.

Thanks for posting that link carpetbomb. Listened to the version Daisy posted yesterday and I was wondering if there was a version the other way round.

Hearing Gary´s voice makes that version sound better to me, I just don´t like that electro bit in the middle.
Edit: urgh no, it´s getting really bad in the end!

I didn't even listen to the whole thing. I'm not that much of a fan of these kind of things. Every now and then you'll get a great one, but these two aren't the best.
